The Sioux City transit system gets a hand with helping low income passengers. Transit leaders announced Friday that a grant from the Department of Housing and Rural Development will help pay for free rides for the homeless. It's designed to help those passengers get to work, school, and hospitals when they've found themselves without a home or money to afford a bus ticket. Local school systems play a big part in matching the grant. The transit system has helped more than five thousand low income passengers in the last few years.
