West High celebrated National American Indian Heritage Month Thursday with a special drum and dance performance by the Kateri Warrior Drum Group. The West High Multicultural Club invited the drum group to perform.

The group is from the St. Augustine Indian Mission in Winnebago, Nebraska.

Their leader explained the meaning of each dance and why it's important to respect all cultures. At the end of the performance, the group asked West High students to join in.

The group doesn't charge for performances so the school gave a donation to the mission.
