North Sioux City Talks Flood Preparedness

Posted:
NORTH SIOUX CITY, SD -

Spring and summer seem far away, but folks in North Sioux City are already thinking about flooding.

More than 50 people were a meeting in North Sioux City Monday night.

Flood specialists were talking about what it takes to keep your family safe when natural disasters hit.

With last summer's high waters still fresh in people's minds, it's important to be prepared for the Missouri River's worst.

FEMA specialists say you can do that by thinking about and buying flood insurance right now.

"If people wait to the last minute to make their preparations and to buy flood insurance, you know, sometimes it's already too late, so we want people to think about this now," says Matt Buddie, a Specialist with the National Flood Insurance Program.
